Daughters and sons of very wealthy families sometimes want to disown the family wealth in order to prove themselves. Some grown children move thousands of miles away and change their names in order to avoid the ‘taint’ of the wealth and family name. Parents may be trying to keep the family together.

Knowing I had the financial backing to live through negative life events (divorce, job loss, catastrophe, etc) removed a level of stress from my life. I am not to that point yet, but many very wealthy families worry about the safety and security of their members. Having enough money can remove stress from your life.
