Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. People sell the darnedest things at their garage sales. Garage sales take time, you have to hit quite a few before you find the item you want or need. I look for the neighborhood sales, which are usually either in spring or fall.

They collect rocks, flowers, twigs and anything else they can catch or commandeer. Lists for Santa Claus, or for birthday gifts start them out and soon they are eyeing and selecting from the wonderful bounty at the stores. Estate sales, moving sales and massive give aways are typical at this stage. You move on.

We also grow a large garden & lots of flowers, fruit trees & a 100-year-old grapevine. I cut it in half & split that half between my kids’ college fund, spent $100 on myself as a Christmas gift, and I’m saving the rest for new tires within the next few months 10. But generally, most things have gone up in cost.
