In April, we saved quite a bit of money by comparison shopping, and choosing thrift first. Most companies will offer free quotes for a chance to earn your business. April’s Thrift Store Finds. My next stop was my favorite thrift store, Community Aid. The big hitters this month saved us about $500.

We furnished our house almost for free by using a few methods: Repurpose Old Pieces . We even got a TV that my parents weren’t using anymore (a flat screen LCD TV at that)! Refinish Free Items. We received a headboard for our bed for free that was absolutely beautiful. Go Frugal'

My parents and their siblings were of the generation that grew up during the depression in the 1930′s. Dress it up with artwork or natural greenery as shown in this post from Parents. Some retail stores do still give out gift boxes for free, always check if you are buying in a brick and mortar store. Ask for gift boxes.

If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. Expect to pay a bit more in a thrift store, but if it is run by a charitable organization, you can feel good about paying a few bucks more because you are helping out the cause. A wheel barrow – free. She pressed the wheel barrow on me for free so I took it home.
