In many parts of the US, people learned to sew as part of their life skills – from parents or family or schools. I made a set of short drapes for my son’s room by simply putting a hem all around the fabric and attaching a tape at the top that let me insert hooks that made the pleats form. Clothing is cheap, sewing is not.
