Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. People sell the darnedest things at their garage sales. Garage sales take time, you have to hit quite a few before you find the item you want or need. I look for the neighborhood sales, which are usually either in spring or fall.

January has the best deals on holiday-related items with markdowns at 50% to 75%—sometimes 90% —off of everything from wrapping paper to decorations. Also, fresh blueberries at this time too, is on sale for $1 to $2 less, thanks to it being summer in South America. and paper plates with ‘Graduation on them’ for $0.89.
