Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. People sell the darnedest things at their garage sales. Garage sales take time, you have to hit quite a few before you find the item you want or need. I look for the neighborhood sales, which are usually either in spring or fall.

Another benefit is that I am cutting the governments out of the loop – there no sales taxes on used stuff (except big things of course, like boats or cars). Here is a short list of some of my favorite finds at garage, estate and thrift store sales. I’ve seen similar ones (Razors) for sale for $40 new.

Make Your Own Board Game

I keep a roll of heavy paper (which I buy at Home Depot for about $11 for a roll about 2 inches thick and 2 feet wide) to use in wrapping packages, protecting floors during home projects, making garage sale signs and etc. I will probably use an old garage sale board game as the base, and just glue the printed game mat to it.

Paint a clear and simple picture of how to bridge the gap – make it easy for them to do what you want. less over at Hen House and the checkout clerk knocked $3.00 off the price.
