School started after Labor Day and ended after Memorial Day. There weren’t any McDonald’s but there were Steak and Shake and White Castle’s here and there. Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. Heck, there were barely chain guards! Kids walked to school.
