Most telephones were on a party line (and yes the parties did ease drop on each other, but they also let us do ‘conference’ calls). Coupons were in the newspaper. The Sunday newspaper was the best source to get them. Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. My radio was AM only.
