They really don’t need or want anything and both of my grandmothers are trying to downsize. This sweet little candy dish was a gift from my grandmother. My great grandmother made a lot of her gifts. My sister in law is a former hair stylist and has given cuts to family members. A Homemade Meal. Family Heirlooms.

This sweet little candy dish was a gift from my grandmother. I realize not everyone has family heirlooms to give away, but my grandmother was downsizing and gifted her grandchildren pieces from her Fostoria Glass collection that were my grandparents’ wedding gifts back in 1945. My great-grandmother made a lot of her gifts.

I had two older siblings, but my sister passed away in a car accident in 2000 and my brother passed away from MS in 2020 so now I’m an only child. My grandmother was originally from NY and my grandparents took several trips across country throughout the years. My cousin (actually 3rd cousin – but that gets too confusing) and I became pen pals when we were in 1st grade thanks to my Grandma and her mother, but our bond grew even more once we finally met.

I’m pretty sure I always sang it as Grandmother’s house, which is weird since we actually went to my Grandfather’s house for holidays. My sister-in-law requires rice and now my son-in-law requires macaroni and cheese. My sister-in-law is neutral. It is always a day I am thankful for.
