Fashion changes and new or nearly new clothing gets sold at sales or donated to charity. For me, going to sales is not just a means to find things I need at rock bottom prices, it is also entertainment. We bought our house as a short sale in 2008. My son has a job at a local pizza place and he gets a free meal after every shift. I’d send some to my nieces to help with their college expenses and would donate half to our local food pantry. We also love travel and plan on doing much more of that when we retire.

Back in my day, we didn’t have Facebook Marketplace, so I had to find other ways to sell things like yard sales, pawn shops, and flea markets. My niece has an eye for vintage clothes and toys and has a thriving eBay business. For example, I’ve been telling my son for years that he should start a handyman business.
