January 2021 was a month of extremes in my family’s finances. I put down half the money and financed the other half. My husband drives a 2012 vehicle and in 2019 we got rid of a 2001 Honda Civic, which we bought new during my previous commuter life–pre-kids. On one side, it could go down as a very resourceful month.

Financially speaking, he focuses on building the business and I focus on managing our home and finances. In September 2001, we bought a 1700 square foot home with a one-car garage and ONE full bathroom. My husband drives a 2012 Nissan that we bought used in 2017 to replace a 2001 Honda Civic.
