Our 2019 Financial Goal. Happy New Year’s 2019: In January 2019, we were down to one final non-mortgage loan, so we created just one financial goal for the year—-to pay off that last non-mortgage debt by December. We can now move on to other financial goals. 1st Update in June 2014. 2018 Update.

In September 2019, my husband and I accomplished our biggest financial goal in our almost 20 years of marriage. We had been renting for over 10 years and we were ready to find a property to move our business to and eventually build our net worth. Also, the monthly mortgage payment was less than our rent payment.

Unfortunately, we did not hit that goal and in part, have made some major changes to our Debt Freedom Plan. At the time we were renting an office space in a strip mall, but when we discovered a foreclosure in our town that seemed like a great idea on paper, we jumped at the chance. We bought our home in 2001.
