Also, the monthly mortgage payment was less than our rent payment. In September 2001, we bought a 1700 square foot home with a one-car garage and ONE full bathroom. Small home = Low Expenses.

Happy New Year’s 2019: In January 2019, we were down to one final non-mortgage loan, so we created just one financial goal for the year—-to pay off that last non-mortgage debt by December. We never stopped taking vacations, but our trips were mostly camping in our pop-up or renting a beach house with other families.
