According to a recent survey, Americans were planning to spend on average $854 on Christmas gifts in 2012. Unless it's paid with cash, that is one hefty credit card bill come January. a stressful January and beyond. On the budget, list all of your purchases for Christmas 2012 gifts and add up the total.

With tuition payments and debt payments we spent about $60,395 between January 2012 and March 2014 when we became completely debt free with two bachelor’s and two master’s degrees between us.
