We Baby Boomers are fueling the travel industry and many of us are taking our extended families along on our vacations. We aren’t the first generation of my family to include multiple generations on trips though. She was in her seventies at the time, my spouse and I in our forties and our kids were tween and teen.

We have wanted to go back for one of our anniversaries, but finances, jobs, school, kids, and just life, has come first so it hasn’t happened yet. We would love to take our kids now that they are a bit older and would remember the vacation – plus it would be fun to show them the beach that mommy and daddy were married on!

Recently, an extended family trip to Hawaii got put on hold due to costs. I followed my own advice and tried to be very clear on what parts my spouse and I would be able to handle for the rest of the family – financially. I was raised in a family that went on a two week road trip every year, no matter what.
