In previous years, I would create a long list of financial goals, only to have little accomplished by the end of the December. I almost stopped writing goals down altogether. In 2018, we decided to focus on just 2 main financial goals and before I share my 2019 goals I thought I would give you a recap on 2018.

We ran the numbers of the purchase and they looked great on paper, but paper doesn’t account for a new server, a roof leak, unexpected medical bills, and other calamities. To ease my anxiety about our new loans, we took the Financial Peace University home course and it changed how we thought about debt. Our 2019 Financial Goal.

Our main financial goal is to pay off our last non-mortgage loan. It was a goal in 2018, but high medical bills and other financial challenges hindered our progress. Back in December, I read the book, Zero Waste Home: The Ultimate Guide to Simplifying Your Life by Reducing Your Waste.

We also were working on paying for Jon’s master’s degree and then my own masters degree, which I completed in December 2013. The other thing we did was switch our cell phone bill. What are your financial goals now? Currently our goal is to max out both of our Roth IRA accounts each year.

Yep, we’re newlyweds and eloped together in December 2013. The income from my extra jobs went straight to debt payments, and my regular day job paid the bills, while enabling me to build up a small amount of savings. He leaves most of the financial goals up to me, but we make the decisions together.
