We use the eggs, harvest meat & if I can’t get out to hunt venison we’ve had friends give us meat. I was born frugal, into a super frugal family. My first memory of helping was around 2 years old; I kept a ledger of expenses at 8 years old, which reflected priorities early (books & leather boots) & so it goes.
