Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. People sell the darnedest things at their garage sales. Garage sales take time, you have to hit quite a few before you find the item you want or need. I look for the neighborhood sales, which are usually either in spring or fall.

Garage sales, estate sales, and moving sales are all great places to look for used furniture. My son has already learned that he can get more bang for his book dollar if he buys used. While we do frequent the library, there are some books that we like to re-read, and owning them is a practical solution.

Sure, once in a while a garage will be broken into and a car or some high-end items will be taken, but for the most part garages are left alone whenever a criminal decides to break into a home. Most everyone, including thieves, have seen or heard of the safes designed to look like beer cans, books, or wall power outlets.

My first memory of helping was around 2 years old; I kept a ledger of expenses at 8 years old, which reflected priorities early (books & leather boots) & so it goes. There’s always been garage sales/flea markets, library, state parks, fishing. Sports/extracurriculars were funded by Mom cleaning houses/church.

Book Time To Finish It. Garage sales – I found a guitar for $5.00 once at a garage sale and bought it for my grandson. Experimenting with musical instruments should be part of every child’s growing up experience, at least in my book. Find A Used Instrument. Pawn shops – there are even some that specialize in musical instruments.

The Toothpaste Millionaire is a juvenile level book that has many lessons to teach. One of the lessons in the book on which I will focus is that starting your own business can be lucrative and that all business ideas start by observing and solving a problem.
