We spoiled our children and we apparently are even more intent on doing so with our grandchildren! My parents were somewhat more interactive with their grandchildren (my kids). Why are we spending more on our grandchildren? It never occurred to me to ask Mom or Mom-in-law to come watch my kids. It’s just fun!

When I was a young adult, out of college and into my first years of marriage, I cringed at the thought of getting money from my parents. Providing college money can help cushion that murky time between high school graduation and fully leaving the nest. I wanted to prove myself. We fear the parents can’t afford to give.

This is a great idea for seniors, friends who don’t have family nearby, college students, or just about anyone on your list. If your freezer is packed with ready made meals that just need to be heated up, this would be an awesome gift for anybody, especially any college students or seniors on your list. Baked Goods. This mainly comes from ridiculous expectations that I feel like I need to meet because of the way my mom did Christmas. In families with just a few cousins/grandchildren, I can see it working out, but not with 17 cousins/grandchildren. Do you bake for a lot of people? I’ve gotten to the point that I really dread Christmas.

When I was a young adult, I hadn’t a clue how to go about deciding what I wanted to do ‘when I grow up’ I picked a college major solely on what I enjoyed studying – without any thought or investigation as to how it might (or might not) lead to a job some day. It didn’t.

I will make sure that my grandchildren have a college fund that is untouchable until then or until 30 if they don’t go to college (that’s right - 30 ). But the Powerball jackpot has the ability to change your life , forever.
