In January, I only ventured into Target because our daughters wanted to go and spend some of their Christmas gift money. At the beginning of the month, we were in the market for a bedroom dresser because my youngest daughter’s dresser fell apart over the holidays. Daughter and mommy were both thrilled.

March Update: I did a little shopping in March and it was mostly for our oldest daughter. But I also found success at a thrift store. At that time, I had not reviewed my own spring clothing and I have plenty of time to go back to Target if I can’t find something suitable (and cute) at the thrift store.

I made one trip to my favorite thrift store during their dollar days sale. I found a pair of blue jeans for myself for $3 and some clothes for my daughters for $1 a piece. Can I find what I need at a second hand or thrift store? Start keeping a list of needs with you for your thrift store trips.

While I love thrift stores, I can be easily swayed to run into Target or Kohl’s when I’m in that part of town. I’m curious to see how much we can save and also how creative we can get by making do with what we already own or looking for things at a thrift store. The Choose Thrift First Challenge.

My oldest daughter has grown 5 inches in the last year. I will start preparing for the winter to spring wardrobe transition by spending the month going through our warm weather clothing bins and taking an inventory of needs, so I can take advantage of sales and thrift store finds. This will be my mindful category in March.
