I came across a great post on things to buy and things to pass on at the dollar store. Although, I've never tried dollar store pregnancy tests or potted meat (YUCK!). I have tried the cotton swaps and they aren't good, pass. It's a great post and I have to agree with just about everything.

Instead, get a little creative and see how you can save money on Halloween costumes by thinking outside of the retail store box. Hit up the dollar store. Swap with friends. I went as a tooth fairy that year.

To make clean up fairly easy so that you can enjoy your guests, I have found really cute and inexpensive party supplies, paper plates, cups, and napkins at the dollar store. And you don’t have to buy a new ugly sweater, you could either visit your favorite thrift store or decorate a sweater you already own.
