Donate Plasma. In early 2021, a friend posted on Facebook about how she was making extra money by donating plasma. I started donating plasma in January of 2021 and earned over $1000 in the first 3 months of the year. You earn money after each donation. You can defray some of your clothing costs by shopping for deals at used clothing stores or thrift stores. Even if you do not have any growing children, buying clothing at thrift stores is a great way to cut costs. Even small thrift stores can be overwhelming, and it is best to have a plan before you go.

While I like to shop at thrift stores, I have a hard time finding TALL length jeans for my 5’10 frame and I was in need of new jeans. At first, I thought my eyes were deceiving me, so I marched right into the DSW to see what shoes I could find around $49. I found a really cute pair of TOMS shoes marked down to $49.99.

If the stigma of thrifting gets to you, remember, it’s not “used”, it’s “vintage”. To set up a swap, gather a group of friends and have them bring anything they want out of their closet-dresses, t-shirts, shoes, accessories, whatever. Whatever is left unclaimed at the end of the evening gets donated. It’s a win-win-win.

I pulled out clothes that I don’t wear and I’ll donate to the thrift store. The shoe shelf in our garage. My family has a shoe addiction. In the first 3 weeks of 2014, I have made some decluttering progress. I reorganized my bedroom closet and dresser. I reorganized years worth of photos that were in boxes.

Thrift : I regularly stop by my favorite local thrift store and find crazy bargains. I am very particular about brands and quality, yet I regularly find new or gently worn name brand clothing, snow gear, shoes, household stuff, and books. I think I’ve worn the shoes 5 times in the 10+ years I’ve had the shoes.

However, there’s always stuff to sell, like outgrown, but good clothing, shoes, toys, household goods, etc. I shop at thrift stores frequently and I am always amazed at how much I see with store tags still on the product. But that store credit is much better than sending it to the thrift store as a donation.
