I cook with it quite a bit and try to keep it in my freezer at all times. As I wrote in the article, I stock up on whole roasting chickens when they are on sale. A few weeks ago, Aldi had a great sale on 3 main ingredients in my chicken stock recipe: 2 lb. Those are some pretty good prices, so I took advantage of the sale.

My kids love baby carrots with dressing as a snack, so I buy them often when they are on sale. I put the shredded carrots in a freezer bag and in the freezer for future use. Once in the freezer, I lay the bag flat and spread out the carrots.) The thought of throwing away and wasting those carrots drove me crazy, so.

Turkey, potatoes, fresh cranberries, sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, canned goods, and everything else you need to make a complete Thanksgiving meal are all on sale. If you have a freezer, roast the turkey immediately and freeze the cooked meat in 2 cup portions for future meals. I store mine in 32 oz glass jars.

We eat mostly poultry and I only buy it when it is on sale. A price like that happens rarely though, so I don't stock the freezer with a lot of poultry, because the normal sale rotation of it is fairly frequent. The prices are usually much better than the best sale price on the item. lb chicken breasts a few months ago.

Utilize the Freezer Freeze those leftovers. Raw vegetables like carrots, peppers, onions and parsley can be shredded or chopped and bagged and stored in the freezer for future dishes. Because I menu plan, I pull frozen meat from the freezer the night before my planned meal. I also revolve my menu around what is on sale, so I'm spending less on our meals. Plan your menu around what is on sale at the grocery store that week. If whole chickens are on sale for.79/pound, Menu planning saves me money.

I challenged myself to a pantry/freezer challenge in the month of May and after inventorying what I had on hand, I found some turkey pepperoni in my freezer, and a half jar of marinara sauce and a packet of yeast in the refrigerator.
