What got us through financially? Our emergency fund. I am totally paraphrasing the year, but had it not been for the money in our emergency savings, we would most likely have used credit cards to survive. I still use my spreadsheet to this day! It was a lifesaver, a sanity saver, and a marriage saver.

Prior to FPU, we thought we were doing well financially and never considered that we had too much debt. We thought we were doing really well. We also didn’t feel comfortable with Dave’s suggestion of a $1000 starter emergency fund, which is his step #1. We used Dave Ramsey’s debt snowball method. |

Pre-coronavirus, we didn’t think twice about shaking a stranger’s hand, using the ATM keypad, or going to the grocery store without donning a hazmat suit. I have written often about the importance of an emergency fund. Also, about the time everything shut down, my coffee machine decided to as well.

An Update on Medi-Share – September 2017. We bought a used pop-up several years ago and it was one of the best decisions for our family We absolutely adore camping, and we’d like to upgrade to a travel trailer. In September 2019, my husband and I accomplished our biggest financial goal in our almost 20 years of marriage. Our business was doing very well, and we were excited about the opportunity to own a property outside of our home.
