I stopped by my two favorite thrift stores last week: Salvation Army & Community Aid, a local store. I only go on Wednesdays, because both stores offer an additional 50% off on almost everything. Finally, spring has arrived in central PA, so I carved out some time last Wednesday to hit the thrift stores.

Our sweet Ruby has assimilated into our family quite well. We found the best price for the Gentle Leader Headcollar at Amazon (that is my affiliate link) at around $8 less than the big box pet store. Ruby isn’t a big fan of the new collar, but she LOVES her walks more, so it’s staying! She’s such an easy dog.

As I am trying to choose thrift first when it comes to purchases for my family and our home, I realized once again recently that my local, friendly thrift store rarely lets me down. Armed with a mental list of things that I needed to keep my eye open for, I headed to the store on Wednesday for the 50% off sale.

If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. But, find one in a high end neighborhood, one where the store sorts through the donations to select only the best. It will be an extra gift for my grandson’s family next Christmas. Garage sales and thrift stores are great places to find books and DVDs.

My husband volunteers at our local YMCA for a free family membership. Shopping the sale racks at your favorite store is always an option, but there are two ways to find even better deals on clothing. Thrift : I regularly stop by my favorite local thrift store and find crazy bargains. It saves us $67 a month.

There is an initial investment, but I have seen similiar containers at yard sales or thrift stores and at Bed Bath and Beyond where they regularly offer 20% coupons. Use plastic store bags for trash bags. Thanks for supporting Family Balance Sheet. I have 4 different sizes.
