Chapter 17 in this book is titled, “Why not run the family office?” She treated her role like a job and helped her family achieve financial independence. Even though I was helping my husband from home part-time with his business, I still felt like I wasn’t contributing to our finances and that drove me crazy.

In the personal finance world, there’s a lot of discussion regarding “side hustles”, also known as extra income opportunities, side jobs, survival jobs, etc. Working a full time job in addition to cultivating a side hustle, along with everything else you do (working out, cultivating hobbies, raising a family, etc), is A LOT.

We consider her our “bonus kid” and our family is extremely close. Although my parents never specifically taught me about finances, they lived a frugal life by necessity. Our mom stayed home to raise us kids; she went to work part-time in the local school system after both my brother and I were in school. Go figure.
