Finding extra money is a game for me. Over the years, I have found money through rebates, refunds, online sales, and even the ground. I have used the extra money to pay off debt, fund family trips, or build up our Christmas savings. My total found money in May: $321.81. This money equates to about $36.67

The good news is that my husband is trying to improve his nutrition and health and in the month of February started a whole foods cleanse. The bad news is that I needed to plan our monthly meals from food that was already in our pantry and freezer to help me fund my January shortfall and hit my February savings goal.

In an effort to find some extra money to fund our Christmas Savings Account , I'm doing a pantry challenge in February. My goal is to plan February's menu around what is currently in my pantry and freezer and fill in any needs at the store, but reduce my overall monthly grocery expenses.

If you’ve been following along since January 25, 2019, we’ve been working all year to set aside money each month to have a cash Christmas. My monthly savings goal was $100. However by late summer, I found it easier to set aside the money directly from our budget. In November, I found the money within our budget.

This is money I earned from my Christmas shopping last year, so it’s appropriate that I apply it to my Christmas savings.

This is money I earned from my Christmas shopping last year, so it’s appropriate that I apply it to my Christmas savings. I made enough to put $50 in our Christmas Savings account.
