My niece goes to Goodwill and buys what I can only describe as bags of junk, and she makes a full-time income selling it on eBay. Lean into cheap meals. Avoid meals that require pricier ingredients , and lean into budget-friendly meals. Dining out, fast food drive-throughs, and Starbucks all have to stop.

Limiting waste is what really drives most of the habits I have that would qualify as “frugal” – reducing/eliminating food waste, returning unneeded items, pursuing refunds, checking on warranties, repairing things, etc. For me, being in the kitchen and making food for people is an act of love.

For 20 or so years I’ve been homeschooling my kids, and am now down to about 1 1/2 (one full-time homeschooler, and one doing College Credit Plus with some support). And I am more conscious of eating leftovers and avoiding food waste. Clark, our cat, the day after we brought him home from the shelter.
