In an effort to find some extra money to fund our Christmas Savings Account , I'm doing a pantry challenge in February. My goal is to plan February's menu around what is currently in my pantry and freezer and fill in any needs at the store, but reduce my overall monthly grocery expenses. Thanks for reading.

I was able to transfer the $100 to our savings account in July, but I''m still short from June when I needed to use some of the savings for other gifts that we needed to buy last month. Plan your menu around what is in your pantry or freezer and limit your spending at the grocery store to just the necessities.

I''m happy to report that I was able to reduce our grocery spending in August by about $50 and I''ll put that money in our Christmas savings. My goal during the pantry challenge was to shop our freezer and pantry to put together my weekly menus instead of only using the Sunday sales flyers. Thanks for reading.

Now that we’ve paid off six figures of non-mortgage debt , we are working on saving 6 months’ expenses and maybe even more. Consider setting the money aside in a savings account that isn’t immediately accessible and doesn’t have an ATM attached to it This will help to avoid any impulsive non-emergency spending.

Not to mention all the money we save. I look at what’s in my freezer and pantry. fruit is about to go bad, chop it up and stick it in the freezer to add to. friends or family to save on housing costs, and we put a little bit from. each check into a savings account. because we aren’t eating out.

Being self-employed, we have a higher starter fund on hand and when we pay off our non-mortgage debt, we will save to at least 6 months expenses and maybe even more. Remember this account is specifically for your emergency fund. Become hyper-focused on funding this account. You will be so thankful later.

The bad news is that I needed to plan our monthly meals from food that was already in our pantry and freezer to help me fund my January shortfall and hit my February savings goal. I'm closing the account and moving that money to my Christmas Savings account. Also let us know how you saved the money.
