Some of my methods may not work for you, but here are some that worked for me: Get a Job. During my college career, I ensured I took a minimum of three courses at all times in order to maintain my status as a full time student. That helps with the budget for the current semester, as well as provides more time to work.

I’ve unintentionally gone too far a few times, and in doing so, learned valuable lessons about trying too hard to live a frugal life. Losing Valuable Time. I must consider time commitments before I go ahead with any money-saving initiative. Lesson : Time is just as important and valuable as money.

For 20 or so years I’ve been homeschooling my kids, and am now down to about 1 1/2 (one full-time homeschooler, and one doing College Credit Plus with some support). I live in the Great Lakes region, in the same state where I was born. I figure I may not be “earning” money, but I can earn by saving.
