We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Put on some spooky music with some haunting voices barely audible. Once the kids left home, we ended up with zero trick or treaters at our house on a state highway. No kids = no money on candy = no candy wrappers in the landfill.

Music Wall. You can check out garage sales as well if you don’t have any old pots and pans. If you’re doing a remodel on your house or for some reason have an old sink laying around, you can turn it into a sand and water table ! Via Pre K and K Sharing?. You can visit garage sales, local flea markets and scratch and dent stores to locate used furniture that needs to be refurbished. Do you love music? Make folded slipcovers from old sheet music for your books and display them on a coffee table or bookshelf. Look for pieces that have a solid construction overall.

Many of the other items I needed like cloth diapers and clothes for the baby in bigger sizes I bought from garage sales. They may also enroll in other baby classes like music and swim lessons. All those items got plenty of use as all three of my kids used them. We Love to Spend Money on Our Children. The expenses add up fast.

I love to shop garage sales. If your child is wanting to take music lessons, think about renting the instrument instead of buying. Learn to love hand me downs from relatives. Don’t be afraid to let the grandparents chip in. In our neighborhood folks buy really nice name brand clothing for their kids. Federal Plus loans.
