As if I could love CVS any more, now they are offering an AWESOME promotion to help with these ridiculous gas prices! Starting Sunday, 5/22/11 CVS will give you a $10 gas gift card when you buy $30 worth of qualifying products. The products will be different each week and clearly marked in the weekly ad and in the store.

Thanks to all the ruckus in Egypt and the Middle East, gas prices have started to climb again… the timing couldn’t be worse considering how shaky our economy still is! It’s just not possible for them to make a profit by offering an unlimited 5% on gas, considering that the transaction fees they earn are only 2% to 3%.

According to Consumer Watchdog , that is because gasoline expands when hot, yet the pumps (most of which do not take temperature into consideration) do not change the amount of gasoline pumped, so you get expanded gasoline in your tank, which gives you fewer miles to the gallon. Watch For Higher Price Per Gallon If You Pay With Credit.

With gas prices soaring, it is nice to know there is a way to help keep them down. In just a little over a year, the program has already saved consumers over $217 million dollars in fuel! That works out to an average of $.28 28 per gallon. What about free fuel?

I know this will be considered by many as a horrible thing that they don’t want to give up, but just ask yourself, how many times per week do you go for fast food? These long commutes, coupled with insanely high gas prices, make a sizable impact in your monthly budget. Cut Down the “Eating Out”.

That is a HUGE savings, and especially as gas prices soar, I’m glad that I have the Prius to drive around in right now. And I’ll be sad when I have to give it back :(. That is a savings of $12.28, which over a month’s time is a savings of $245.61 (and close to $3000 in a year !).
