In previous years, I would create a long list of financial goals, only to have little accomplished by the end of the December. I almost stopped writing goals down altogether. In 2018, we decided to focus on just 2 main financial goals and before I share my 2019 goals I thought I would give you a recap on 2018.

The New Year brings a chance to make a fresh start and improve our lives. One of the best ways to do that is to set realistic goals. In fact, one of my favorite things to do at the end of December each year is to set financial goals for the new year. The most important step is to create realistic goals.

Make it easy and sign up for Rocket Money and they'll find those monthly fees you're paying unnecessarily. Make it extra fun and invite some friends over, dress up, mix up some drinks, and have a mini concert in your living room. Take the money you would have spent on a costly concert, and save it instead.

Instead, I look for creative ways to save my family money in all aspects of our lives. My goal has always been to live well on less while achieving our big financial goals. 2 – We opened up high-interest savings accounts and earned $250 in interest. Frugal living is not about deprivation.

Right before the pandemic started, I opened 529 College Savings Accounts for our daughters. My oldest was in eighth grade and one of my goals for 2020 was to start saving consistently for both daughters’ college education. We want to assist them in financing their college years and we needed to make some progress.
