This sweet little candy dish was a gift from my grandmother. I realize not everyone has family heirlooms to give away, but my grandmother was downsizing and gifted her grandchildren pieces from her Fostoria Glass collection that were my grandparents’ wedding gifts back in 1945. My great-grandmother made a lot of her gifts.

One of my great-uncles on my Mother’s side of the family bought enough plots years ago for all of my Grandmother’s side of the family. When Mom died, my brother purchased additional plots adjacent to hers so that family coming after could rest there as well. I bought those plots from him several years ago.

Towards the end of September, I made a commitment to myself to write a series in October called, 31 Days to Find $1000. But my fondest memories are of family gatherings, the Christmas Eve candlelight church services, my grandmother’s silver Christmas decorations, and the cinnamon rolls my mom made on Christmas morning.
