Do you have some leftover wall paper you won’t be using? Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Christmas decorations, wrap, bows and ribbon all are continuous offerings at pretty much every garage sale, thrift store or estate sale I’ve ever shopped. Be unusual. And, yes, save your paper.

Use reusable containers with lids rather than plastic wrap and aluminum foil to store leftovers. Use reusable grocery bags, rather than the plastic bags to cart your groceries home from the store. Eat those leftovers! I have a good friend who hates leftovers and throws any away after a meal. Choose thrift first.

Not enough time in the morning to make breakfast AND pack a lunch, one word: leftovers! I’m always amazed by the amount store tags I see on clothing and household item at thrift stores. Research the store’s return policy for unused purchases without a receipt if you don’t have it.

Don’t limit yourself to the thrift stores, either. We usually send him home with the leftovers. They appreciate the clothes — and the fact that they don’t have to buy them. If you have goods in usable condition, you can donate them to charity, or to others who might need them.

Instead of using aluminum foil or plastic wrap to cover casseroles and leftovers, store the food in re-usable containers. There is an initial investment, but I have seen similiar containers at yard sales or thrift stores and at Bed Bath and Beyond where they regularly offer 20% coupons. I have 4 different sizes.
