A Better Breakfast: Chocolate Buttermilk Muffins
I first saw this recipe at Joy's website, Five J's , when she had a breakfast challenge last summer. And she got the recipe from Lynn's Kitchen Adventures . So I guess you could say that this recipe has been passed around a few times! Looking at both websites, though, this recipe can be I took the ingredients from Joy's post and just winged it. In a large bowl, beat together butter, sugar, eggs and buttermilk until well-blended, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. In lieu of spending extra money to buy buttermilk, simply make your own.

Easy Frugal Cooking | Beef au Jus Sandwiches
Today’s recipe isn’t a particularly quick one but since it doesn’t require much in the way of hands-on effort, I think it still qualifies as easy. I got it from Taste of Home and modified a couple of things. The original recipe calls for a rump or bottom round roast, and while those do go on sale for a decent price, I’m not a big fan of the texture or flavor of those cuts of beef. So, I use a chuck roast when I make this recipe. It doesn’t slice as neatly as rump or round roasts do, but the meat is much more tender and moist, so it’s

Wok's For Dinner: Creamy Chicken & Chile Enchiladas (casserole)
I tried making homemade tortillas for this recipe, but realized the masa I had purchased was a corn flour base, so the tortillas didn't work out as I had planned. My tastebuds were off this evening due to a massive headache, but hubs and the kids enjoyed the meal a lot. Creamy Chicken & Chile Enchiladas (casserole) Ingredients : 1 lb cooked chicken, shredded 1 kg (8oz) cream cheese, room temperature 1 can (4.5oz) chopped green chiles 2 cans (10oz each) enchilada sauce, red or green (I used red enchilada sauce) 1 pkg (12ct) flour tortillas (I made homemade corn tortillas),

How To Make Homemade Yogurt
So today, I’m posting the yogurt recipe with New! Also, for some reason my search box here on the blog was having a hard time finding this recipe and so I was getting a lot of emails asking, “WHERE in the world is your yogurt recipe anyways???”. The recipe requires no special machines…you probably have most, if not all of these items in your kitchen already. Those of you who’ve been reading here for a while will recognize the bones of today’s post. When I first posted it here, I used some old pictures from my original food-waste

Wednesday Baking (or not)-Chocolate Peanut Squares
Today’s baking recipe requires, um, no baking. But if you’re like me, when it’s hot outside and you’re trying to avoid using your AC, or are trying to use it minimally, you’re not in the mood to crank up the ol’ oven.
So, here’s a recipe you can make without heating up your kitchen (I found it in an old Taste of Home magazine a few years ago).
Which, I suppose, means it’s not actually a baking post.
These bars/candy are somewhat reminiscent of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, except that they are square and have no

Deep Dish Pizza-printable
Meanwhile, place a pizza stone on the lower rack of the oven and heat the oven to 425 degrees. If you don’t have a pizza stone, you can instead place a rimless baking sheet, inverted, on the lower rack of the oven.
When the crusts have risen, poke them all over with a fork, and place them in the oven on top of the pizza stone or inverted baking sheet, and bake for 5-10 minutes(I usually do 10 minutes), or until lightly browned. Deep Dish Pizza

Wedneday Baking | Pull-Apart Garlic Bread
This is a recipe I got from Taste of Home back when I was a teenager. The original recipe calls for a pound of frozen bread dough, but of course, I don’t buy bread dough. usually make a recipe of sandwich bread dough to use instead of the frozen bread dough. The recipe makes more than a pound I made it for my parents and siblings then, and I now make it fairly often for my own family (not often enough, though, by their estimation!). It’s sort of like a savory version of Monkey Bread, and it’s received with nearly as much enthusiasm.

Wednesday Baking-Thin Crust Pizza
This is yet another recipe borrowed from Cook’s Illustrated. I found it in the big baking book they published(I got it for my birthday a few years back), and I’m pretty delighted with the recipe. don’t do it exactly the way they said to(I didn’t want my crust to be shatteringly thin like they did), but the basics of the recipe are theirs.
I This pizza is delicious, but my favorite thing about it is that the dough is supposed to be made ahead of time.
