So, I sewed a scrap piece of denim on the inside, using yellow thread to hide my stitching. Then I used blue thread to hand sew around the hole, to keep the hole from getting any bigger. I’m happy she’s getting more use out of them! And now the outside, while not perfect, is passably good.

Do you need to use wide-mouth jars? You can use (and reuse) the usual metal lids and metal bands. Since those are prone to rust, I’ve also used Ball’s plastic screw-on lids (mine are the older white style, but this is their current style.) That will ensure the food has plenty of room to expand upward.

I have some plastic cases for larger brushes and rollers (the type you use to paint walls), and I do like those. I hate using mineral spirits. Let me know!

I do think this makes sense on occasion When you have a huge container of something, it’s handier to pour it into a smaller container for regular use.

I save money where I can, reusing old food containers for my multitude of seasonal seedlings, getting free five-gallon buckets from the bakery to use for extra growing space, making compost from our fruit and vegetable scraps, and starting almost everything from seed. They will continue to be in use for many more years to come.

I had trouble finding cream from Thanksgiving-Christmas last year. Monday We had a simple dinner of ham, rolls, and fruit salad.

I made a single serving of croutons for my soup I made a pot of this butternut squash soup for myself, to use a squash that came in my Hungry Harvest box. But by now, two years later, they smell very normal, and I am currently using them to learn types of needles for injections. I had to use my reading glasses to thread the needle.

When I paint furniture in a light color, I often have to use caulk to fill in some gaps; the light color makes them rather unsightly. I used my trusty Bosch orbital sander. Yesterday, I cut up some chicken thighs and used this chipotle chicken marinade on them and sauteed the chicken in a cast iron skillet. I packed the chicken as a salad, using the sauce as a dressing, plus I brought some carrots, Triscuits (well, the Aldi kind!), and hummus, and that was my dinner.
