Most people have a credit card and why not get some free travel for using it? Flights, hotels, and even car rentals can be much cheaper when you book about a year in advance. Use AirBNB or Equivalent . We got a great deal because we used the bidding tool that Priceline and some other sites allow you to use.

Using the right miles at the right time is important. Short flights are typically not worth the upgrade since you would waste miles.

Eventually you accumulate enough miles to trade them for a free flight or train trip, and everyone is happy. When I flew a lot for work, I exclusively used American Airlines because I wanted to make sure all my trip miles were consolidated into one rewards account. Use your card and you get points. Sounds easy, right?
