Dad grew up on his parent’s farm with a wood stove, an outhouse and kerosene lamps. Mom and Dad always pointed out how much better off we were than our neighbors, because we were saving money and building up assets. Of course, later on I did get some really nice real dolls from my St Louis Aunts. It was unheated.
