How long have you been reading The Frugal Girl? I know I found The Frugal Girl through the Non-Consumer Advocate, and I’ve read nearly all the archives. I was not raised by frugal people, but my fiance (now husband) was very frugal, and I wanted to learn how to adopt some of the same mindset so we could be on the same page.

Below are some suggestions of traditional picnic fare that won’t break the bank. The trick to keeping this option frugal is to use whatever fruit is in season (in season = cheap). Garlic herb Bread. Have a knack for making bread? Then why not make a loaf of garlic bread for your next cookout? Deviled Eggs.

I also have a separate bank account for my children’s activities. Example of things I recently bought : Turkey meat, publix cheese, potatoes, strawberries, 2 BOGO breads, bananas and ranch seasoning. Step 5: I freeze bread. In fact today Kroger had their bread on sale for.88. also set aside money for a rainy day.

Since I am off to Disney World and buy the ‘Hopper Ticket’ while breaking the bank (good thing I have been budgeting and couponing this year!!!!), On a random note, I went to Paris for a week when I lived in Europe, I had a loaf of bread, PB and J with me and a case of bottle water. Now that is cheap living !
