That did teach us a lesson about home ownership: that it was something we were taught was a mark of being an adult, but really, when you “own” a home, unless you’ve paid off the mortgage, the bank is your landlord and you’re just renting. Did you ever receive any financial education in school or from your parents?

While I do agree with this assessment, there are a few more things that I feel make our now living generations richer than previous ones, no matter what our bank accounts look like. We are taller, healthier (in spite of being way too fat), better educated and remain active longer into our elder years. No war inside our boundaries.
