In April, we saved quite a bit of money by comparison shopping, and choosing thrift first. April’s Thrift Store Finds. My next stop was my favorite thrift store, Community Aid. They looked UNWORN, and after the 50% sale, the price was just $2.50. The big hitters this month saved us about $500. Total Savings: $300.

Many of the other items I needed like cloth diapers and clothes for the baby in bigger sizes I bought from garage sales. The article specifies that Garlick did not buy any birthday or Christmas presents for her children, but I’m sure that they got items from well-meaning relatives. We Love to Spend Money on Our Children.

Lists for Santa Claus, or for birthday gifts start them out and soon they are eyeing and selecting from the wonderful bounty at the stores. Some get stuff from stores, the less financially favored head for thrift stores, garage sales, Mom’s house or the trash pickup routes. Leaving the nest. You need stuff. You move on.

My wedding dress, thrifted! So, I lost $2k on the sale and ended up with a more expensive car in the long run.
