This week, I am thankful: for kind people who let us borrow space heaters I already had one from my Buy Nothing group, but I also got to borrow one from my landlord and two from neighbors. Anyway…I’m gonna find the good in a not-that-fantastic situation. I’m pretty sure a crabby attitude would have surfaced around day two.

Our rent back then was (adjusted for inflation) around $550 – a big bite out of our $35,000 gross salary – especially when we were trying to save a down payment for a house, start a college fund for each of our two boys and pay off a loan we had.
