Here are some thoughts on ways to save money when you wrap this years gifts. that is more or less equivalent to 5 big rolls of printed Christmas wrapping paper, which costs around $3 per roll – a savings of around $6 overall. My brother once cleaned potato chip bags after turning them inside out and used those as gift bags!

, riding lawn mowers, garage door openers and many, many more things we take for granted today. Ours was smaller (about 700 square feet) – 2 bedrooms (my brother and I shared one and my parents the other), a kitchen and a living room, No basement or garage. There were no garage door openers. There was no internet.

How did you get interested in saving money? There’s always been garage sales/flea markets, library, state parks, fishing. I had huge medical bills for the spouse, was only working PRN, and needed new ideas on cutting corners. I was born frugal, into a super frugal family. But generally, most things have gone up in cost.

Two car garages. With the two income household came the need for more than one set of wheels and consequently the desire for multiple garages. My parents made do with one for most of their years, even when my brother and I started driving. We still just have one at our house though. Most households had only one car.

Mom and Dad always pointed out how much better off we were than our neighbors, because we were saving money and building up assets. We had a coal stove at home, but my brother and my shared bedroom was just a few feet from the stove. I ended up freeze drying them in the garage! Money Tips' It was unheated.
