Brookshire Brothers. Family Thrift. Stater Brothers . Stop N Shop. Bartell Drugs.

Save any shopping bags you get through the year – especially the paper ones or ones that are unique in design, then use them at Christmas time. My brother once cleaned potato chip bags after turning them inside out and used those as gift bags! Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Use those as well.

My brother, a student, has an open invitation to come to dinner. Instead, the money the charity does have can go toward helping more people.

Ours was smaller (about 700 square feet) – 2 bedrooms (my brother and I shared one and my parents the other), a kitchen and a living room, No basement or garage. Kids did chores and not all of them were ‘safe’ My brother mowed the lawn with a homemade electric lawnmower. Food/shopping. Fast food was rare.
