Also, I tend to keep pieces for a long time, as I learned years ago that buying quality clothing lasts much longer than fast fashion. While I like to shop at thrift stores, I have a hard time finding TALL length jeans for my 5’10 frame and I was in need of new jeans. I won’t need to buy jeans for a few years. $20

If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. Expect to pay a bit more in a thrift store, but if it is run by a charitable organization, you can feel good about paying a few bucks more because you are helping out the cause. Look for sales in neighborhoods matching the kinds of things you want to buy.

Choose Thrift First Challenge. In 2015, the monthly challenge will be the Choose Thrift First Challenge. We will be challenging ourselves to resist buying retail and instead choose thrift by borrowing, buying second hand, or making do with what we already have. Buying a coffee is a guilty splurge for me, but to be honest, the particular coffee shop brand that I love is sold in grocery stores, like Giant. Choose thrift first. Rather than purchasing new, check to see if you can borrow from a friend, barter, or buy second hand. Brew your own coffee. You will save about $2.50

On Thursday nights, I write out my meal plan using my Dinner This Week Pinterest board and my cookbooks and then place an online order at Giant for a Friday morning pick-up. On Friday morning, I pull into the drive-through during my allotted time and my groceries are placed in the back of my car.

Thankfully, my pragmatic side took over and we decided to replace our tires and take the next year or so to save up enough money to buy a vehicle with cash. On Friday, March 13th, the PA Governor shut down schools and closed non-essential businesses. Boy am I glad we don’t have that loan right now! March 2020 arrived.
