Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. People sell the darnedest things at their garage sales. Garage sales take time, you have to hit quite a few before you find the item you want or need. If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. I love a bargain.

I love to buy things second hand. Just look at the many people scouring garage sales in the summer. Likewise, thrift stores are always full of people. If you think buying used is just for people who are on a tight budget, think again. Their motto is “Buy used and save the difference.”

There are still more ‘me’ gifts I’d like to buy, but I’ve managed to hold off so far. However, in reviewing the best things to wait to buy on various sites, I find that cameras are one of those items. I learned late in life that there are best times to buy certain things. Winter clothes.

Are you a ‘buy it new’ snob – one of those people who shudder at the thought of using someone else’s cast off stuff? After 10 years of not having enough money to buy new things, I found my dream job and started getting high pay. I paid hundreds for a slightly better model at Best Buy years ago.

There was very little I had to buy for my child after these showers. I got brand new clothes , a stroller, a playpen, toys, blankets, the list goes on and on. Many of the other items I needed like cloth diapers and clothes for the baby in bigger sizes I bought from garage sales. It turns out, quite easily.
