In his world, if you couldn’t fix it yourself, you were pretty worthless – because you just couldn’t throw something out and get a new one. He made his own electric lawnmower. He built his own garage.

It has just never been economically justifiable. How would we deal with the sewage; lack of water; lack of heat; and interrupted supply of food, coffee, light, entertainment, communication ability? We have plenty cut already and also already have the tools and trees to cut more. A bike to get around without using a car.
