Luckily, both Alan and I have similar views and values, and neither one of us has to spend big bucks to have a good time. He’s a cheap date – but then, so am I. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears were shed here, but we both agree that having no mortgage gave us a serious leg up on our retirement savings and other financial goals.
