My sunglasses broke in my purse and my eyes are very sensitive to the sun especially with white snow on the ground, and thankfully, I found a cute pair on clearance for $5. I made one trip to my favorite thrift store during their dollar days sale. For one-time special occasions, ask friends if you can borrow instead of buying new.

April Update: I made 3 new purchases in April: I bought a pair of Teva flip flops from the clearance rack at DSW and two t-shirts at BJ’s Warehouse store. For one-time special occasions, ask friends if you can borrow instead of buying new. Can I find what I need at a second hand or thrift store?

Between coupons, sales, and clearance, there’s no reason to pay full retail. If the stigma of thrifting gets to you, remember, it’s not “used”, it’s “vintage”. To set up a swap, gather a group of friends and have them bring anything they want out of their closet-dresses, t-shirts, shoes, accessories, whatever. Don’t Pay Retail.
